Theia Roadmap

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there is any roadmap defined for the future plans of Theia. I have seen the previous two posts about this on the community page, and noticed that there used to be a roadmap before the first release. However, after the release, the roadmap in the README.md file was deleted instead of updated (https://github.com/eclipse-theia/theia/pull/7458)

I am not asking you to bring the roadmap back (though I think it is a good thing to have). Instead, I am wondering what the future release plans are, and whether it is defined anywhere. Thank you!

@Beyza thank you for the discussion and welcome to the community!
There is no official community roadmap at the moment (readme or otherwise) that I know of.

Some key items or future plans that I know of consist of:

  • Improved VS Code API Compatibility - everything to do with aligning our extension API with VS Code including any missing API in order to improve compatibility and consume additional extensions successfully

As for other items, you can take a look at recent opened pull-requests and see what others are working on, including assigned issues.

TL;DR I don’t think there is any official roadmap at the moment.
